Soil scientists have recognized for many years that climate is one of the major state factors controlling soil formation. Soil climate regimes, manifest in the combined factors of soil moisture and soil temperature, are important in a wide range of applications including soil quality improvement, precision farming, integrated crop managment, and ecosystem management.

The objective of this section is to improve the delivery of information to those seeking a better understanding of soil climates.
