The series consists of a group of soils that formed in a particular kind of parent material and that have genetic horizons that, except for the texture of the surface layer, are similar in differentiating characteristics and in arrangement in the profile. Among these characteristics are color, structure, reaction, consistence, and mineralogical and chemical composition.
