Land Use:
About 50 percent of this area is in farms, and most of the remainder is in timber. A large part of the timber is in a national forest. There are many lakes, and water-based recreation is a significant enterprise. The farms usually are small and are used mainly for growing forage and feed grain for livestock. Sunflowers, wheat, and other cash crops are grown on some farms, mainly in the western part of the area.
