Land Use:
Nearly all this area is in farms and ranches. Level tracts, mostly in the west and making up almost one-half of the total area, are cropped. Spring wheat is the major cash crop, but feed grains and hay are also grown on most farms. Most of the land in the east is in range, but gently sloping soils are dryfarmed to wheat. Narrow discontinuous strips along the Milk River are irrigated. Feed grains, corn silage, hay, and tame pasture are grown on much of the irrigated land, and sugarbeets are an important cash crop.
