Land Use:
More than 80 percent of this area is forested and is used mainly for lumbering and recreation. The remainder is used for growing feed grains and forage for beef and dairy cattle. Some grass and legume seed are produced as a cash crop. An adverse climate and poorly drained soils severely limit use of the land for agriculture.
