Potential Natural Vegetation:
This area supports swamp and forest vegetation. Black spruce and varying mixtures of tamarack, northern white-cedar, and black ash are in conifer swamps. Low shrubs, mosses, and herbaceous plants such as Labradortea ledum, leatherleaf, creeping snowberry, marshmarigold, sedges, and sphagnum mosses are in bog swamps. The mineral soils support species such as quaking aspen, balsam fir, northern hardwoods, mountain maple, glossy buckthorn, skunk currant, and sweet white violet.
