Water:
In most years, the favorably distributed moderate precipitation is adequate for crops. Abundant ground water in the glacial drift meets domestic and municipal needs in much of the area. The large cities in the north depend on Lake Michigan for water. A few large perennial streams are potential sources of water but are little used for this purpose.
