North Dakota and South Dakota
52,480 km2 (20,260 mi2)

Soils:
Most of the soils are Borolls. They are deep, well drained and moderately well drained, and sandy to clayey and have a frigid temperature regime and mixed mineralogy. The nearly level and undulating Haploborolls (Barnes, Svea, Emrick, Heimdal, and Aastad series) and Argiborolls (Forman series) are on till plains. The nearly level Haploborolls (Gardena and Hecla series) and Natriborolls (Aberdeen series) are on glacial lake plains. The sloping to steep Haploborolls (Buse series) are on till plains. Very poorly drained Argiaquolls (Parnell series) are in kettle holes.
