Nearly all this area is in farms and ranches, and about 70 percent is cropland that is dry-farmed. Corn, small grains, and alfalfa are the principal crops. Grain sorghum is also grown. About onefourth of the area, consisting of the steeper sloping soils, is in native range and tame pasture.
