Potential Natural Vegetation:
This area supports a mixture of short, mid, and tall grasses. Blue grama, western wheatgrass, threadleaf sedge, sideoats grama, little bluestem, prairie sandreed, switchgrass, sand bluestem, and needleandthread are the major species. On Pine Ridge, these plants grow in association with ponderosa pine, eastern redcedar, western snowberry, skunkbush sumac, common chokecherry, and rose.
