Climate:
Average annual precipitation Mainly 300 to 500 mm, but it is 750 mm at the highest elevations and 250 mm in some basins. In the north minimum precipitation is in spring, and in the south it is early in summer. Winter precipitation is snow. Average annual temperature--6to 7 C. Average freeze-free period--Generally 90 to 125 days, but it is only 80 days at the highest elevations.
