MLRA 66 - Dakota-Nebraska Eroded Tableland

Nebraska and South Dakota
12,400 km2 (4,800 mi2)

Water:
The limited precipitation makes farming a risk, and maximum crop production is not expected in most years. The Niobrara River is the only perennial stream. Throughout most of the area, shallow water is available in quantities sufficient for livestock and domestic uses. Most soils are deficient in moisture during much of the latter part of the growing season.
