Soil pH is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of the soil. In an
acqueous solution, pH is defined to be the negative logarithm (base 10)
of the concentration of free hydrogen ions. In soil, the pH results
from the interaction of soil minerals, ions in solution, and cation
exchange.
